JESSICA BAILIFF

True headspace music for the 21st century.  Whispered drones, spooky organs, oversaturated guitars, medieval nursery rhymes, delicate vocals, fragile pulses, heady swirls, the occasional almost-pop nugget…..

Bailiff has been making amazing music since day one.  I got into her because of her association with Alan Sparhawk.  “Slowcore” is a lazy man’s write-off for both her and Low.  This is music that’s always shifting, always pushing and pulling.  Very textured and layered and then sometimes very minimal.  Her solo stuff is my fave.  Her collaborations have many fine moments, but I like her pure vision the best.

I seem to recall some homemade youtube live footage of her and her guitar at the Robinwood Concert House from 2009.  Very spooky stuff.  Also a good interview on there somewhere.  It’s all highly recommended.
