Landing are one of the very few long-lived bands out there to have
had their entire career be a high point.
They consistently deliver the goods and have constantly been evolving,
moving easily between long psych-jams and shorter, blurry, dreampop nuggets. Their latest release, BELLS IN NEW TOWNS,
falls into the latter category. More
than anything, it feels like the spiritual successor to 2012’s self-titled
comeback release although, where that album boasted shorter, dreamy, drifting
pop gems, BELLS has a grittier feel. Not
lo-fi, just deliberately less-polished and generally more driving. Like everything else Landing has ever done,
this one is not to be missed. A digitally
savvy band, the vast majority of their recorded output is available over at
Bandcamp. Why the hell would you ever
bother wasting your time listening to the radio again?
