We are hard at work on Goatshed One, which will be a
feast of fiction, poetry and visual art, featuring contributors from all around
the world. We are quite blown away by the quality of the submissions. This
first edition will be a mission statement, a demonstration of the fact that we
have come to play, and a showcase of the contributions we want to make to the
literary landscape. Goatshed One will be available to preorder from August the
31st, and will be released in mid September.
We are yet to announce the shortlist for Goatshed Two.
We know, for some of you, we have been sitting on your work for quite some
time, but we are a small team and are running at full capacity. We will begin
the formal selection process after Goatshed One has been released.
In addition, we are very proud to announce our new
pocketbook series. These will be bold, groundbreaking works of poetry, fiction,
and creative non-fiction, printed and bound to an exceptionally high standard.
Our first two titles have already been confirmed: a poetry collection by
the US author John Sweet, and a dark novelette by Bristol based writer Lena
Sparks. If you, or someone you know, has a collection, essay, or story that
fits this brief, then send your submissions to goatshedpress@gmail.com
Are you an artist? Introducing Goatshed Art Club, the
bold, visual centrepiece to each edition of our Goatshed publications. Chosen
artists will be given a bio, both in print and online, and we will direct our
readership to your store or help you organise the sale of your work. We want
paintings, drawings, photography, sculpture, and anything else you might be
working on. Send high-quality reproductions of your work to
goatshedartclub@gmail.com
We hope you have a blessed month. At Goatshed Press,
we like to think of the writer not as a matryr, but a trickster, a game-player,
a weaver of worlds, inspired by the goat itself, a cantankerous, untameable
animal capable of all kinds of mischief. This is a new venture, and we
appreciate your engagement. If you could spread the word, try and get friends
and family to join the newsletter and, upon release, get themselves a copy of
Goatshed One, we would be thankful. All proceeds will go towards paying the
writers, printers, editors and artists for the next edition. We are in it for
the joy.
Whatever happens, keep writing. Much love,
Jack Jenkins, lead editor Goatshed Press
